The band was formed in Philadelphia at the city’s High School of the Creative and Performing Arts and was later discovered by New Edition member Michael Bivins. Bivins who had earlier started his own production company, signed the band for a contract at the famous Motown Record Corporation. The group recorded their first album ‘Cooleyhighharmony’ which became an immediate hit, led by ‘Motownphilly’ the great dance cut. The album was one of the best-selling RnB albums ever made.
