After a few phone calls the police department came to the conclusion that the car had not been stolen, but in fact repossessed. Why the boy was still inside remains a mystery, but the Mother was quick to point out that she checked up on him every 10 minutes. The Kings Speech is a wonderful movie and it was nominated for 12 Oscars. Another notorious character in the history of the Strip would have to be Guy McAfee. Guy MacAfee was a Los Angeles police officer who had quite a few underground interests. In 1938 he was forced to leave Los Angeles and he made his way to Vegas. Here he started acquiring interestis in casinos and soon he acquired one of the biggest casinos of the time, the Golden Nugget in 1946. Most of the casinos were located in the Arrowhead highway and therefore the casino area was known by this name. It was McAfee who renamed the area and called it the Strip and that name certainly has stuck.
