Online Casinos Look To 2010 For US Regulations

Here’s something to refresh your memory and update you on the Barney Frank Bill. There have been a number of positive steps taken towards regulating the Internet gambling world in the US in 2009, and now as the year has ended several online casinos are focusing towards 2010 as the year when the regulations finally get in place. Or that’s what they are hoping for!

The online casino in USA industry has been somewhat harassed by the new Obama administration in the USA in 2009. That is not exactly what the industry was looking forward to when President Obama took office early last year.

Although the administration has carried out the existing laws in the country by restricting bank accounts related to internet gambling payouts, the future of the industry still looks hopeful. Along with implementing the laws that have been given to them to enforce, the Obama administration has also taken a number of steps in 2009 towards online gambling regulations.

Congress Representative Barney Frank has proposed two sets of legislation that are working their way through the Congress. The first removes the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, while the second puts down the foundation for regulations in the United States.

Frank has many more supporters than you can imagine than he last did in 2008 when he made an attempt to overturn the UIGEA. The representative from Massachusetts has already gained the support of over sixty co-sponsors and supporters for his online gambling regulations bill.

As 2009 has come to an end, online casinos are hoping to say goodbye to the outdated laws in the country. They look forward to the prosperous 2010, one in which a regulated system protects the integrity of their industry.
